LAKESIDE SENIORS

Hard as it is for us to believe, Lakeside has been "into" Italian Greyhounds for over twelve years!  Some of our "kids" have now reached senior status.  Several more will join their ranks in the next few years.  Senior dogs are VERY special -- cherish them while you can.

Gina

Here is Lakeside's first IG -- "Gina Lollabrigidog" -- it's pretty obvious, that with a name like that, I was a first time Italian Greyhound owner!  She was always a pet and spayed at an early age.

I acquired Gina in New England and she rode all the way home curled up on my lap under my coat!  By the time I reached Pennsylvania, we were totally in love!  Initially, she was so bonded to "Mom" that she would panic whenever I left her sight, however, in time she mellowed-out, although Mom is still her favorite person in the world.

She has had some health issues over the years.  She has had colitis since puppyhood and also occasionally has a mild seizure.  Still, at age twelve, she is happy and full of life.

This is a very special girl and I am eternally grateful to have had her introduce me to this wonderful breed!

This stately lady of leisure is my Fancy-Foof!  In her heyday, Foofi had a totally blue head and was quite the stunner -- winning her championship at just 9 months of age!  I have never had a sweeter, more loving or better behaved IG in my home.  She was bred by Dee Snoble and Leslie Wagner, and I am eternally grateful to them for sharing this angel with me!

This girl is SO full of love -- once when we were separated for a couple months, she cried for hours at our reuinion and she still cries with happiness when I return after a day or two away!  I have much love in my heart for this lady!

This wonderful little man was Lakeside's first rescue dog.  I acquired Fabio, after seeing an ad in the local "Shopping News."  A woman was moving and selling him along with several pieces of furniture!!  I called her immediately and told her I would take him -- sight unseen.  I have never been sorry.  He is a joy!  Sweet and undemanding -- although when it comes time to go to their pens, he does have a habit of hiding :),  so usually he can be found relaxing on the sofa!

Fabio has a cute habit of "dancing" (jumping up and down & twirling around) when he gets excited, but generally he is very laid back.  We sure do love this sweet little man!

Lisa was my second IG.  I was lucky enough to get her from Dee Snoble, who co-bred her with Ivan & Ellen Price.  Lisa did try her paw in the ring a time or two, however, "showbiz" was not her destiny.  Through Dee, I was able to arrange to have Lisa bred to a top producing male, CH Rohan's Little Red Scooter -- this breeding produced Lakeside's first litter and my super showgirl, Patsy.

Lisa is a great little girl, still happy and energetic, although she has recently developed a cataract.  Of course she gets preferential treatment -- and she deserves it!

Skye was turned in to Rescue about 5 years ago,  after his second owners could not deal with the results of his abusive first owner.  He has been with Lakeside ever since.  The day after he came to us, he jumped his pen in the basement and scratched a hole through my basement door!  That was the last day he was ever confined and he has done wonderful!

Skye is Dad's special buddy and must sit with him constantly.  He did try his luck at lure coursing several years ago and was good enough to win his JC.  We are very proud of him!

This happy little dude, Scrappy, was turned into us by a vet in the Valley Forge, PA area.  They had managed to talk his neglectful owners into parting with Scrappy and his housemate, Blue.  Blue was adopted by a wonderful guy in Philly -- but no one wanted little Scrap, who, although very un-IG-like in looks, is total IG in heart!

This totally broke my heart, and since he seemed to love me so much already and was so happy here, we decided that this is where he would stay!  He is by my side constantly and has SO much love to give!  A special boy!  The folks that passed him up will never know what they missed!
