Kody's coursing photos by
"The Deerhound Guy," Steve Surfman
On January 1, 2000, the American Kennel Club permitted Italian Greyhounds to participate in the
sport of lure coursing for the first time. On January 2, 2000, at Italian Ice I, Kody became the first IG to win a five
point major! Despite some really tough competion, he easily attained that second major in early March, 2000 to become
the FIRST AKC ITALIAN GREYHOUND FIELD CHAMPION!!
Later that year, he completed the requirements for his ASFA FCH and was the first IG to be ranked
#1 in both AKC and ASFA standings at the same time!!

Kody is shown here on the historic day that he became a field champion along with Dean Wright, AKC's lure coursing
director and Carly & Ian Davies, his judges that day.
At the age of nine, Kody is retired and more and more IGs are taking to the coursing field. Many IGs love
to chase "the bunny." If your iggy shows the inclination to "chase," I strongly urge you to encourage it. A rewarding
experience for both of you. We at Lakeside are still looking for our next Kody and still miss the thrill of field trials.
